Freshii Heading To DC

If you're a fan of the fast, salad-centric style of food at Chop't and Sweetgreen, you'll want to be on the lookout for Freshii, a Canada-based chain that's heading to DC.

The restaurant offers a menu of build-your-own salads, burritos, wraps, rice bowls, soups and frozen yogurt. The concept was born in Toronto in 2005, and there are now 13 locations in Chicago and Toronto.

Restaurant industry professional Andrew Nelson has signed a franchise deal to open five Freshii restaurants in the DC area. He aims to open the first by early 2010.

Check out the online menu, which tallies up your nutritional info as you choose ingredients.

I have been in the location in Chicago and it's fantastic. The slow roasted oatmeal is AMAZING! Can't wait for it to be in the District.

And you can doctor your oatmeal with fruit, coconut, nuts ... think people might abandon the office doughnuts?

It might be opening up in the Crystal City underground mall. There is signage up one of the storefronts stating that a new salad chopped place is opening soon.

I feel like Freshii is the retarded cousin to Chop't.
