Ripple Opening In Cleveland Park
In the former Aroma space at 3417 Connecticut Ave., a new restaurant featuring "wines from around the world, food from our backyard" opens this weekend.
Ripple is the result of former TLC head Roger Marmet's longtime dream to open a restaurant. He's assembled a great team, including chef Teddy Diggs, formerly of Blue Ridge, manager Danny Fisher who comes from Cork and Cork Market, and GM Brian Cook, a talented sommelier most recently of Sonoma. Pastry pro David Guas will provide sweets for the restaurant.
Open for dinner seven days a week, Ripple will serve a menu of locally sourced, seasonal dishes, along with a wine list offering 50 choices by the glass from smaller producers around the world.
A sample menu includes dishes like blood sausage with egg raviolo and horseradish; crispy soft shell crab with Anson Mills grits, wild ramps and preserved tomato; and braised greens lasagna with roasted mushrooms and béchamel.
The chef is working with lots of great local farms including Trickling Springs Creamery, Path Valley Farms, Tuscarora, Northern Neck and Davon Crest.
There's also a late-night bar menu featuring charcuterie, cheese, panini and salads.

The decor is bright and colorful a stark contrast to the dark colors of AROMA (which it replaces). The layout seemed the same but not sure about the backroom.
Didn't dine there...yet....our mission was to eat some yummy goodness at Nam-Viet next door. Maybe next week.
Suffice to say I was shocked that AROMA closed as that was a DC drinking staple for many many people for a very long time.
Woodley Park is changing quite a bit with alot of places that have been there for years now gone.
And they serve drinks and some food until midnight!
Brave to try Yet Another Wine Bar in Cleveland Park (I think YAWB would be a better name than Ripple) but they seem to know what they're doing.
Beer selection also good - they had Cleveland's GLB beer on tap.
Oh, and I just got that Cleveland-Cleveland Park connection...
