Agraria Chef Heads To Kitchen Stadium

Thanks to Washingtonian's Best Bites blog for sharing the low-down on the next D.C. chef to compete on "Iron Chef America."

Agraria executive chef Ricky Moore (at right) has been tapped by the Food Network show's producers to battle it out in Kitchen Stadium. The episode should air this fall, according to the post.

Read Washingtonian's interview, complete with a requisite game face picture, here.

I thought he was going to be cooking for the Nationals at the new ballpark ... and then I read the news ... oh well, but wouldn't it nice to have a chef at the stadium doing half-smokes. and more

Given the less than steller reviews (both the professional ones in the local media as well as one from friends of mine who have dined there), I am little surprised at the selection of Moore. What was he pre-Agraria experience? Is there something of significance?

Of course, as a homer, I hope our local chef does well on ICA!

Even though Agraria in general has had a tough start out of the gate, I commend Chef Moore for sticky it out and not jumping ship when their are challenges that occur naturally in the restaurant business. The location is tough. I have recently had some great meals but the service needs work and lot of it.

I will be rooting for him. Everyone in DC need to be behind this Chef because he is put of "HOME TEAM DC" and base on the Washingtonian interview this gentlemen seams to be the type of person I want to represent DC.

GOOD LUCK CHEF MOORE!

Moore has solid credentials and I think Agraria's unique farmer-owned concept probably helped.

I pasted his resume info below (from Agraria's web site) and it should be noted that he was born in NC, which means he's alright in my book. =)

Experience:
• Executive Chef of the Parrot Cage Restaurant and South Water Kitchen in Chicago.
• Galileo with Roberto Donna, Vidalia with Jeffrey Buben, Equinox with Todd Gray and Lespinasse with Gray Kunz.
• Trekked to France to work at two-star Michelin rated Le Cerf with Michel Husser in Alsace, Apicius with Jean-Pierre Vigato and Le Violin d'Ingres with Christian Constant in Paris.
• Executive chef at Le Relais in Great Falls, VA., at Le Tarbouche in Washington D.C., Field Research Staged at Daniel's in New York City, and Charlie Trotter's in Chicago.
