James Beard Nominees Announced
Nominees for the prestigious James Beard Foundation Awards were announced today. Representing the DC area are:
• José Andrés (at right) for Outstanding Chef
• Central Michel Richard for Best New Restaurant
• Johnny Monis of Komi for Rising Star Chef of the Year
• Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic
• Eric Ziebold of CityZen for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic
• Terry Theise of Terry Theise Estate Selections for Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional

Amanda, you missed one, kinda. In the OUTSTANDING RESTAURATEUR AWARD category, Wolfgang Puck (The Source in DC) is nominated.
I considered including that one but decided he's not primarily representing DC. Though I will say his contribution to our dining scene is "outstanding"!
Now if only one could have Jose Andres cooking appetizers, Eric Ziebold and Cathal Armstrong coordinating dinner, and Terry Theise presiding over drinks while lounging in Central Michel Richard, life would be perfect.
