WBJ Dishes Details On Barton Seaver's Seafood Spot

The sustainable seafood market and restaurant that chef Barton Seaver will open later this year at 1612 14th St. NW finally has a name: Diamond District Seafood Co., according to Missy Frederick of the Washington Business Journal.

Check out the story for more details on the space, including this interesting bit: Seaver "wants to honor food stamps and offer several species at prices ranging from $3 to $4 a pound so all residents of the transitional neighborhood can afford the market."

Ever heard the nickname "Diamond District" for DC? (There's a hip hop group by that name.) I kinda like it.

I'm assuming it's $4/lb for a whole fish, meaning DIY filleting and you throw away the waste parts, so the effective cost is a bit higher

Good point. I'll see if I can find out.
