Five Bites On Friday

Today's Five Bites come from Kathy, who writes about her eating experiences at Eating Around DC.

1. Ravioli filled with roasted veal, prosciutto and pistachio mortadella with a red wine reduction, butter, fresh sage and Parmesan at Tosca

2. Lamb shank with creamy polenta at Central (pictured)

3. Filet mignon with brandy mushroom cream sauce at Ray's the Steaks

4. Shrimp and goat cheese enchiladas at Guajillo

5. Buffalo shrimp with crusty bread (to soak up the sauce) at Grillfish

Five Bites is a place for Metrocurean readers — and DC's top chefs — to share all the delicious things they've been eating and drinking. E-mail five of your favorites and whether you'd like your name and a picture included to metrocurean AT gmail.com.

I have tried both the shrimp/goat cheese enchiladas at Guajillo AND the buffalo shrimp at Grillfish. The enchiladas have a melt-in-your-mouth, wonderful flavor, and the buffalo shrimp are a spicy yet creamy and just plain delicious. You will be asking for more bread to soak up the amazing sauce! Great recommendations Kathy.

I second the veal/prosciutto ravioli at Tosca. In fact, IMO they have the best pasta in the DC area. My favorites are the pappardelle with rabbit ragu (ridiculously light) and the tortelli with black truffle (rich and intense).
