The Metrocurean Week in Review

What people are talking about locally...

...We're really having a hard time getting off this CakeLove thing (see last week's week in review). Warren Brown and his buttercream are featured as the cover story in this week's City Paper. Maybe next week will bring an even more riveting epicurean drama to capture our attention...

...Is the mini muffuletta the new mini burger? I had a trio of the shrunken New Orleans-inspired sandwiches for lunch today at Open City, which opened its doors this week and is already packed with thankful Woodley residents. The space is bright and inviting, and I'll be back soon to try the cucumber martini and to sample some teas from the restaurant's impressive collection (that'd be two different visits). And those muffulettas, though not winning points for authenticity, weren't half bad. The olive spread is spicy, which adds a nice twist...

...The Georgetown Ritz's Fahrenheit restaurant threw an impressive party Thursday night to introduce new chef Terence Feury to the swanky masses. Feury brings an impressive resume to the job, having served as executive chef at Philadelphia's renowned Striped Bass. His fall menu reads like an ode to the season and the region, with Williamsburg peanut soup, Niman Ranch pork chops accompanied by sweet and sour Virginia apples, Carolina red grouper and roasted pumpkin risotto with blue cheese and pinenuts...

...Farewell to Signatures. We wait with bated breath to hear where chef Morou will land...

...Everyone else is "talking turkey" (I'm so sick of that expression) so I will too. Check out D.C. Foodies' list of restaurants open for Thanksgiving, just in case you don't have plans.

Amanda,

With Les Miserables coming to town, could we get a post about good restaurant options in the area of the National Theater (esp. those that cater to the theater crowd with fast, early service before an 8pm show)?

Thanks,
Tucker
