Behold, The Boiled Peanut!

Dispatch from the road ...

Also known as slimy, nasty, little thing for those who can't appreciate the mushy, mealy delicacy found along coastal roadways down South. They are best purchased from the back of an old man's pick-up truck, but roadside family farms are also a reliable source. Be sure to crack open with teeth so as to not waste the briny liquid trapped inside.

Magic in action.

Hark the return of summer tomatoes!

memories ... for a kid who grew up being a yankee in the south and whose mom was an atheist married to a catholic, the final indignity was being allergic to peanuts ... something there were no warning labels for and something I tried to keep quiet about ... in the forever search for the peanut I could eat, I discovered the boiled peanut: not much left I guess except for the brine and a mushy texture ... but I loved them ... for the salt and the fact that I wasn't quite as different as all the other kids, but still a yankee in Macon Ga.

So, Michael, this revelation is interesting. May be a question for Robert Wolke to find out why/if the peanut allergen isn't present in the boiled product... Glad you found a way to fit in though!

boiled peanuts are the only thing that me and my father agree on.

And that is to say you love or hate them?
